picasso weeping womanOne of the hardest things about trauma is the feeling of fragmentation – the world and time and your thoughts are all there, but they are all in bits and pieces and don’t seem to connect properly.  Just like this woman – all the bits of her head and her face there, but not quite joined together as they should be.

I’ve sometimes described it as having the filing cabinet of my mind tipped onto the floor – everything is there, but it’s in total disorder, and I have to work hard to find what I want and to put it back in its place.
